Profile of TBA’s Religious Advisors

Ven. Dr. I. Indasara Mahathera (PhD) - Senior Religious Advisor

Bhante Indasara is the Chief Incumbent of Sri Sambuddhaloka Viharaya at Lotus Road, Colombo-1, Sri Lanka. A former Vice Chancellor and Senior Professor at the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka, Bhante Indasara received his B.A. Honours degree from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka and MA & PHD from the University of Delhi, as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Colombo. He was a visiting professor at Ateneo de Manila University, Philippine in 2018.

Known to Ti-Sarana members and devotees, Bhante Indasara was one of our resident monks from 1996 to 1997. Bhante Indasara was also a Resident Monk of Mangala Vihara (Buddhist Temple) from 2005 to 2008 until he was appointed Vice-Chancellor of the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka in October 2008.

Ven. Welipitiye Ratanasiri Mahāthera (M.A.) - Religious Advisor

Ven Ratanasiri Thero took up the role of resident monk and Religious Advisor of Ti-Sarana Buddhist Association in 1991. With the blessings of his master, Ven. D. Sangharatana Nayaka Mahathera, Ven Ratanasiri has been instrumental in the association’s development & progress since his appointment. Ordained at a tender age of ten years, Ven Ratanasiri was educated in Kitulewela Maha Pivivena, Weherahena and the University of Pali and Buddhism, Kelaniya. Since his arrival in Singapore, he has been firmly focused on the task of spreading the Dhamma and doing welfare work for the less privileged in society. He is also the Chairman of the Metta Social Service Foundation and Metta Youth Centre in Matara, Sri Lanka that are committed to providing social and welfare services to the local community.

Ven. Ridiyagama Ānanda Mahāthera (M.A.) - Religious Advisor

Bhante Ānanda had his ordination in 1986 and received the Higher Ordination in 1997. He graduated from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. He also holds the post-graduate degree from Buddhist & Pali University of Sri Lanka and a Diploma in Buddha Dhamma from the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University of Yangon, Myanmar. He has published several books and articles on Buddhism. Bhante Ānanda is the resident monk and Religious Advisor to Ti-Sarana Buddhist Association since 2007.
